Chores for you and Chores for me
I am a huge believer on everyone working together to keep our home nice, so this is the first thing we do every morning. Our four kids are assigned their chores every day except for the weekend and are paid each Sunday if they completed their chores during the week. Sometimes I have to remind them but for the most part they are really good at doing the chores by themselves each morning without being asked. I remind them that when everyone works together, we have a nice home and that they will be happy that they know how to clean as they grow up and live on their own. I assign each child a room with a checklist posted in that room of 5 things not to forget to do. I will probably switch up the rooms to give them each an opportunity to clean each room, but for the last year this has worked very well. I'll probably switch it up soon. We use a marker board with magnets to show the chores and to check them off as they complete them. They are kept in their rooms by their light switch I also have a checklist for myself so they don't feel that they are "doing all the work," which is included at the bottom of this page. If I happen to be cleaning their assigned room, then they don't have to do everything on the checklist. This works very well in our home. It only takes about 30 minutes but can sometimes take an hour. As a homeschooling family it's a great way to teach them life skills and to wake them up and get their brain goin' before they do school work.
